Mr. Joyce is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Oklahoma & Kansas with 30 years of engineering experience. His experience includes coordinating the design of several major projects in the Oklahoma City area, including many school projects.
Mr. Joyce is a past president of the National Council of Structural Engineering Associations. He is a former president of both the Oklahoma Society of Structural Engineers and the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. He is also a former member of the Steering Committee of the Risk Management Program of the Council of American Structural Engineers.
Mr. Joyce was trained by the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Response System as an Urban Search and Rescue Structural Specialist. Mr. Joyce was also interviewed by CBS News to discuss the lack of safe rooms in Oklahoma and has extensive experience dealing with tornado damage. Following the Moore Tornado on May 20, 2013, he worked with the American Society of Civil Engineers/Structural Engineering Institute National Team of Engineers and is a co-author of their publication “Moore, Oklahoma, Tornado of 2013: Performance of Schools and Critical Facilities”.
Outside of the engineering world, Mr. Joyce is currently Chair of the Oklahoma City Riverfront Committee and a past Chair of the Metro Tech Foundation. He is also past president of the Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights Homeowners Association and a member of the steering committee for Oklahoma City’s first Community School, Edgemere Elementary.
While president of NCSEA, Mr. Joyce had two editorials published in STRUCTURE magazine, the leading national publication for the structural engineering profession.
